WAI A Day
When I worked for W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative, we often discussed ways to spread the good word of our resources better. One idea that I was always fond of was to showcase the deep library of resources with a social media feed that would promote random resources regularly.
My grandiose idea would have been with custom promotional text that summarizes the resource and maybe give some more context.

I'm a web accessibility professional who cares deeply about inclusion and an open web for everyone. I work with Axess Lab as an accessibility specialist. Previously, I worked with Knowbility, the World Wide Web Consortium, and Aktion Mensch. In this blog I publish my own thoughts and research about the web industry.
Suffice to say, we never followed through for a few different reasons. The priorities just didn’t align. It happens, but I still liked the idea. So just five years after leaving W3C, I created my own low-effort version of the idea.
It’s called WAI A Day, and it highlights a WAI resource every day.
Where to follow?
You can follow the Mastodon account @WAI_A_Day@yatil.social and the account will post a random WAI resource every day at 17:00 Central European Time.
There is also a Bluesky mirror, but if you can, use the open social network Mastodon instead.
Caveats
The list of URLs that the script choses from is filtered from the sitemap.xml file of the WAI sub site. I wasn’t happy with some of the URLs that are in there, so I decided to filter out some URLs, mainly:
- Translations (the account only posts English resources for now)
- News (they are often outdated and not suitable for this kind of account)
- Tests for ARIA features
- Example pages
- Some sub-pages that I did not feel were useful to be featured out of context
I just auto-post the URLs and the social media preview of Mastodon does the rest. Unfortunately, some of those previews are more useful and others are less useful.
In addition, that list does not contain any specifications or any Understanding documents of W3C. I hope to add them to the list at a later date, but I could also see those documents overwhelm the other resources.
Code
The code for inspection and the created URL list can be inspected on my Codeberg profile.
